Review
Summary |
Cholesterol MD™ is a caplet-based supplement marketed by a company called MD Products, which appears to offer a variety of other general nutritional formulas for both men and women. This particular supplement is advertised as offering a comprehensive approach to cholesterol regulation, with purported benefits such as the reduction of LDL levels.
Men and women weighed down by high cholesterol problems may be curious about what promising non-prescriptive alternatives may be available today. High LDL levels may render affected individuals more liable to develop heart disease and other conditions. We will examine the supplement in question more closely to see if it may be as promising as advertised.

 | Ingredients at a Glance |
|
According to the product’s supplement facts panel, the formulation may include some of the following naturally derived components: Plant Sterols, Grape Skin Extract, Xanthinol, Nicotinate, Garlic Powder, Citrus Pectin, Quercetin, Psyllium Powder, Policosanol and Cocoa Extract. The manufacturer says the product is a rich source of Polyphenols and Beta Sitosterol.
We are pleased to discover that the company lists Plant Sterols, or Phytosterols, as the product’s key active ingredient. The manufacturer suggests that men and women trying to lower their LDL levels may benefit from consuming at least 800 milligrams of these exciting ingredients daily. Unfortunately, it may be unclear as to how much is included in the overall formula in question.
|
 | Ingredients in Focus |
|
The formula’s proprietary blend may contain 1,165 milligrams of the ingredients listed above, but the company does not appear to offer a breakdown of the individual components at this time. This leads us to wonder whether we are getting as much Plant Sterols as an individual may be led to believe. We certainly hope we are not getting shortchanged here.
Some may also contend that Grape Extract is a promising component for lowering LDL cholesterol levels while boosting – or regulating – HDL levels. Grape Extract may contain Resveratrol, a natural chemical that some have associated with antibacterial and antifungal properties. Its role in fighting cholesterol, however, has been widely debated.

 | Lifestyle |
|
The manufacturer’s instructions are as follows: “To lower cholesterol levels, take one serving twice daily with meals as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol.” Maintaining a well-balanced, low-fat diet and getting exercise may be the key factors here, considering the formula in and of itself may not be nearly as potent for lowering LDL levels as advertised.
Some people may appreciate that the product in question may be purchased in multiple ways – either locally from pharmacies and drugstore chains, or online through the retailers’ Websites or the company’s Website. At time of review, a 20-serving bottle is priced at about $24; some people may find the low price favorable, but others may question the product’s level of quality.
|
 | Positives |
|
• May contain some Plant Sterols
• May be purchased at some local drugstores
|
 | Negatives |
|
• May not contain as much Plant Sterols as other products
• The formula may be saturated with other lower-quality components
• A 100 percent product guarantee may not be available at this time
• Consumer testimonials may be hard to come by online

 | Final Thoughts |
|
Cholesterol MD™ may be advertised as one of the most complete and basic supplements for reducing LDL cholesterol levels, but we are not sold on claims that it is among the best options for non-prescriptive relief. All-natural products may generally provide a more sensible option, since drugs may cause side effects, but we feel people may do better.
We believe those suffering from high LDL cholesterol levels should not compromise on the quality of supplements they are considering, especially for long-term use. Some of the health risks, as mentioned previously, may be quite serious, so we feel it is vital to completely trust that a product will come through. That said, some companies offer products with up to 1,200 milligrams of Plant Sterols per serving.
