Review
Summary |
High blood cholesterol levels may increase an individual’s risk of getting heart disease. Cholesterol is a fat-like substance that the body needs in small quantities to run a wide range of systems, but too much cholesterol may cause it to be deposited in the arteries, which may cause blockages. This is extremely important, because heart disease is the number one killer of women and men in the United States.
When diagnosed with high cholesterol, a doctor may suggest instituting a low cholesterol diet, combined with some kind of medication. However, these medications may have side effects that may be serious, including dizziness, nausea, jaundice and irreversible muscular atrophy for some people. For this reason, individuals often seek out holistic alternatives, such as LipidShield™, before going on these medications. This supplement is advertised as being able to raise the levels of “good” cholesterol, while decreasing the levels of “bad” cholesterol.

|
LipidShield™ contains some of these elements: Policosanol, Selenomethionine, Inositol Hexanicotinate, Red Yeast Rice, Plant Sterols and Stanols. Each of these elements is often found in cholesterol-lowering holistic supplements, yet their level of effectiveness varies from element to element.

 | Ingredients in Focus |
|
Some cholesterol lowering holistic products, such as LipidShield™, use formularies that are loaded with a variety of extracts, which, at first glance, may seem like a really effective avenue of generating results. However, when it comes to weight loss or sexuality enhancement, this kind of multilevel approach may be extremely effective, but where cholesterol-lowering and heart health are concerned, sometimes less is more. For instance, LipidShield™ uses one of the more effective elements on the market to lessen “bad” cholesterol and increase “good” cholesterol - Plant Sterols.
Plant Sterols are naturally occurring in the foods we eat – especially in vegetables. However, it may be really inefficient to try to eat enough of these elements to make a dent in cholesterol levels, but holistic supplementation has been shown to be extremely effective. This is because Plant Sterols mimic cholesterol in the digestive system, so the body absorbs it instead. This way, the cholesterol from the foods we love, like steak and sour cream, will pass out of the body undigested, so the arteries remain clog-free.
The rub with Plant Sterols is that studies show they work best when used in levels above 800 mg, and are optimal when used in 1,200 mg dosages. So when products, such as LipidShield™, load up their products with elements like Policosanol, Selenomethionine, Inositol Hexanicotinate and Red Yeast Rice, the formula’s ability to deliver the right amount of Plant Sterols may be compromised.

We would have felt more comfortable with this product if they had included a more comprehensive testimonial section in which customers had supported this product’s ability to lower bad cholesterol levels and raise the levels of good cholesterol. It has been our experience that testimonials are included on the sites of the more results-oriented formulas – for two reasons: they are a great way for developers to let people know their product works, and they are a feature many individuals actively look for. As of this writing, this developer has included very few testimonials on this website, which is a red flag for us in terms of effectiveness.

 | Final Thoughts |
|
Sometimes to set themselves apart from the competitors, developers will create products that are loaded with elements that have an ability to lower cholesterol. But, this usually sets up an situation in which these elements are used in smaller amounts than what is needed to create results. We fear that this is the case with LipidShield™. While we are happy it contains Plant Sterols, which are extremely effective in lessening cholesterol levels, we believe it is most effective in dosages higher than what is used in LipidShield™.
Our findings suggest that the other elements used in this product may not make up for this discrepancy. We feel this makes LipidShield™ a mid-tier product, which may produce only moderate results, when most of us need and desire a product that delivers a high level of success time after time. Fortunately, there are clinically proven cholesterol-lowering formulas currently available online.
